Lots Of Bad Drivers

The consensus on Westport’s 2 most dangerous across-the-street-from-each-other parking lots is: Trader Joe’s is worse for pedestrians. CVS sucks more for cars.

Check out alert “06880” reader JP Vellotti’s photo:

Compo Shopping Center, Westport CT

I see similar scenes — including exiting through the entrance — at least once a week.

And yes, those are New York plates on the black BMW.

Don’t forget the equally troubling exit onto Compo Rd., South from the same shopping center. I wish they’d block it as either and entrance or exit and force all cars to enter and exit from the PRE.

  2. is JP snapping and driving??

    • I’m guessing stuck at the light (note traffic coming from Post Road). And I’m SURE he was in the passenger seat.

Not driving…but grabbed the snap after we all gave space to oncoming traffic 🙂

The worst is trying to make a left turn exiting the CVS lot. PS — I think they’re both BMWs.

Oh wait…I think this might be a stunt scene from a BMW commercial. Notice the fine print: Don’t try this unless driving in Westport; they are used to this type of thing.

  6. Hey, this is Westport. No one tells us where to go, how to do it, and limits our freedoms. We do what we want, how we want, when we want. After all, we’ve earned it!
PS: Please note the sarcasm so I don’t get bundles of hate mail.

  7. Is it just me, or does anybody else note a look of menace in the grilles and headlights of the recent vintage Beemers?

New York plates? Cheap shot, Dan. As a Westporter by birth, but New Yorker by choice, I can assure you there are bad drivers in both states. Perhaps you’d like to identify gender next and incite others?! Love your blog. 😉

As a New Yorker by birth, but a Westporter/Fairfielder by choice, I can assure you that people in Fairfield County are politer, gentler and friendler than those in New York. I noticed it immediately when I moved here 30 years ago, and had to have a lot of work done to my house. I couldn’t believe the difference.

I’ll probably get a lot of hate mail because of what I just said, but my feelings have only deepened over the years.

    • Guilty as charged.
