Dan can you find out where all of the plows are? We are still snowed in, our plow guy can’t even get to our street! Hunt club lane! Of the twelve houses on our street ten of them have residents over 80, what happens if there is an emergency? I’m starting to feel like jack Nicholson in the shining!
You got that right, Dan; I’m always in charge! Just ask Buddy (my brother), Jessie (my stray, adopted sister) and Daisy Mae (my canine sister)! Thanks for posting my pic! Yours truly, Skooter Pie =^..^=
Lower Bayberry is still not plowed as of 4:30 PM. Long Lots Rd is in terrible shape. No plow has been down North Maple at all. Post Rd is in poor shape except for melting by the sun. Roads off of Cross Highway unplowed this afternoon. Not a town truck in sight! Where are the plows? Gordon?
Did all the plows go help out in Fairfield instead of finishing in Westport? In my 17 years here the roads are generally well plowed. This is an awful job today and it isn’t because of the “2013 Blizzard”. They seem to have taken the day off.
Because we live on the Fairfield-Westport line, we receive code red alert messages from the Fairfield town selectman. They are typically very detailed. One message mentioned that Fairfield residents could expect “main roads” to be plowed today, “side streets” to be plowed tomorrow and “cul-de-sacs” to be plowed on Monday. Seems as if Westport could be following the same pattern?
I haven’t been out of my driveay, but Sturges Highway appears to be cleared as I saw a few cars and several plows (not the orange ones) go by today.
Just saw this tweet from the Town of Westport (@westportctgov): “Westport EOC: Public Works equipment hit hard by failures because of amount of snow to be moved.”
And this tweet too: “Westport EOC: town crews working to clear smaller town roads, asks residents not to allow private plowers to put snow into public roadway”
On an unrelated note, did anyone who lives in an area with deer hear what I would describe as “soft shrieking” from the woods today? I was shoveling snow off my roof for most of the afternoon, and heard some plaintive noises from the wooded area behind my house. It was heartbreaking to hear, as I was thoroughly enjoying the quiet of this beautiful day, and then would hear “it.” It was not the sound of an animal being attacked, as I have heard those shrieks before. They don’t last very long. This was different, as it went on for a couple of hours. I wondered if perhaps it was a deer that was stuck in the snow since it is so deep. Are there any wildlife enthusiasts on Dan’s blog who might know what I was hearing today? What do deer do when the snow is 20+ inches deep?
Think the Town sold the trucks when the Groundhog failed to see his shadow last week !!!! OR Gordon just does not give a hoot now that he is not running for re-election.

I think that part of town is subbed out to Penna plow crews.
Perhaps we need better sub-contractors.
Yeah Gordo, where are the freakin plows!
They better bot be plowing the beach parking lot so people can enjoy the beauty before the residents are plowed out!

North maple is still a mess, why is Roseville, colony, Salem lane, Salem rd all clear and not this end of town, where are the plows Gordo?
Great photo of Skooter pie!
Thanks!!! (and while a very flattering shot, that’s not even my best angle!). Your truly, Skooter Pie =^..^=

Could it be a racoon? The deer near our house seem to be making it through the snow without too much difficulty.

Yeah, go Jim Marie where do I sign up for your election bid?
