Thanks A Lot!

The “Comments” page of “06880″ has been filled with wild stuff the past year.  Crazy drivers, crazy weather, crazy crap going down at The Farm  — if I’ve written about it, you’ve commented on it.

Today, let’s play nice.

We’ll devote this post’s “Comments” to a simple topic:  whatever we have to be thankful for.

I’ll start it off.  I’m thankful that I live in such a beautiful, creative, compassionate, involved and supportive town.

I’m thankful for the thousands of readers who make “06880″ such an interesting labor of love.

And I’m thankful that despite all the craziness that sometimes threatens to drown us, we somehow manage to keep our heads above water, shake ourselves dry, and find our way back to firm, familiar land.

Oh, yeah.  I’m also thankful for electricity.  It’s on, most of the time.

Now it’s your turn.  What are you thankful for?  Just click the “Comments” link.

Thank you!

  1. Thanks Westport for all the great memories.

  2. Thankful for the opportunity to have grown up in and lived in a town like Westport! Thankful that my family had the same opportunity! Thankful for the education we all received. Thankful for the life long relationships that started in Westport and continue today. Thankful for being able to give back to Westport.. Thankful for what I was able to receive from Westport. Thankful for being able to serve the Town of Westport! Thankful for the beauty of the Westport shoreline. Thankful that the Good Lord allowed us to spend a good portion of our lives in a special community. There are days we miss it, like today Thanksgiving Day, Staples Wreckers Football vs. Greenwich, it doesn’t get any better than that!! GO WRECKERS!! The times of walks on the beach, cooking out on South Beach, the list could go on forever. We are thankful for Westport, Connecticut and all that it meant for so many years!! Happy Thanksgiving Westport!! Happy Thanksgiving to our dear Westport friends, we miss you!! Enjoy your many blessings.
OOOOOHHH and by the way!!! “GO WRECKERS” beat Greenwich!

Dan, I am thankful for YOU for keeping Westport close to me even though I have not lived there since high school. You capture its unique and collective vitality and beauty for me and many others. Westport has always been in my heart and I am grateful I can still feel a part of it, thanks to you! Happy Thanksgiving classmate!

Dan, same thanks to you for your work on 06880 and the Boys Soccer.
For friendship of Al Jolley. For my first job in Westport. For the evening with West Side Story cast….the list goes on.

  5. Carissa–well said.

  6. The Dude Abides

Thanks for the watchful eye to the wonders of Westport.

  7. I’m thankful for my big bro, Dan!

  8. I am grateful that no matter how cheerless things may seem at times, things could always be worse! An article in last Tuesday’s NYT Science Times, “How a Serving of Gratitude May Save the Day” ended with the echoing sentiments: “Hey, it could always be worse. When your relatives force you to look at photos on their phones, be thankful they no longer have access to a slide projector. When your aunt expounds on politics, rejoice inwardly that she does not hold elected office. Instead of focusing on the dry, tasteless turkey (hey, that’s going too far!) on your plate, be grateful the six-hour roasting process killed any toxic bacteria….” Today I am grateful to just plain be grateful. (And to have a sense of humor.) Thanks Dan, for keeping us in the local loop, and always thinking.

I’m thankful for you, Dan, and the upbeat comments, although it’s very obvious that when it’s a calm topic, about 1/10th of your readers comment! How long have we been able to read and comment on 06880 now? You really keep us aware of the real stories here in town. I first moved here in 1946 (as a 3 year old) and I am grateful to have been back in the same house for the past 18 years. It’s a great town, wonderful beach, terrific art community, fantastic library, and some of the nicest people anywhere!

    • THANKS, Linda, and thank YOU for all you contribute to this town!

“06880” began in March 2009. It took a while for comments to take hold — like, 3 seconds.
