Staples Spectacular Challenge Question – Read It Here!

You’ve heard all about the Staples Spectacular Student Challenge — the event that kept over 40 high schoolers riveted for 12 hours Saturday, as they researched, analyzed, synthesized, wrote and calculated their way toward a $10,000 prize.

Now you can read it, in all its 10-page glory.

Before “06880” provides the link, however, a warning:  Sit down.  Get comfortable.  Pour yourself a nice soothing coffee or tea (or whatever).

And imagine how you would have handled this question when you were in high school.

  1. If you do take the time to read the problem that students had to solve, ask yourself if you could have tackled the problem when you were in high school.
What students at SHS are able to do is astounding. It is possible ONLY because most students come to us motivated to learn and because they have a solid foundation from elementary and middle school. I can only imagine what more could be accomplished here if we had the resources to provide even more innovative programs for students. Alas, that takes more people and, thus, more money. I think it is worth the cost. I hope all who agree with me say so in a loud voice to those who will make the final budget decisions.
