The Cottage opened to critical acclaim in 2015. It features chef Brian Lewis’ highly revered season American cooking, delivered with casual simplicity and coastal charm, in a cozy and intimate setting.

The Granola Bar (275 Post Road East, Playhouse  Square; 203-557-0945)

The Granola Bar is Westport’s modern diner, open 7 days a week for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Indoor and outdoor seating available in a welcoming space where regulars enjoy iconic avocado toast along with coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, salads and of course granola and granola bars — all handmade in Westport. Catering available for groups of 8+.

Match Burger Lobster (580 Riverside Avenue; 203-557-8800)

A fun casual elevated road shack. The menu features fried Copps Island oysters, slider combo (mini-Match burger and lobster roll), salads and appetizers. Stroll through the butcher shop next door (see Saugatuck Provisions listing below), and select a dinner for chefs to prepare too enjoy in the casual dining space.

Milestone redefines the notion of a neighborhood gathering spot by combining simply prepared, boldly flavored fare made from scratch and classic cocktails done right with professional, understated service in a stylish yet warm and welcoming setting. Staying true to the best of classic comfort foods, while also offering a wide array of other foodie and healthy options, Milestone always strives for the perfect bite.

Saugatuck Provisions (580 Riverside Avenue; 203-557-3655)

A 1-stop shop created by master butcher Paul Nessal, chef Matt Storch, oyster man Jimmy Bloom and restaurateur Susan McConnell. Poducts for every occasion, breakfast to dinner, family meal to cocktail party, with specialty items too. Select a dinner; Match Lobster Burger chefs will prepare it to enjoy in the casual dining space next door. 

 

The Bridge at Saugatuck (541 Riverside Avenue: 203-557-0984

The Bridge at Saugatuck opened on the Saugatuck River in 2024. Co-owned by executive chef Stephen Lewandowski, Westport native Doug Pardon and “Today” show anchor Craig Melvin, The Bridge highlights modern coastal cuisine made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Besides the restaurant and large bar, warmer months offer seating on outdoor patios, riverside cabanas, and a dock-and-dine option for boaters.

Asian Fusion/Chinese

Little Kitchen of Westport (423 Post Road East, Compo Shopping Center; 203-454-5540)

Westporters have adored this Indonesian-Chinese gem since it opened in 1987. Over 35 years, The Little Kitchen of Westport has won many awards, including Best Chinese/Asian Restaurant and The Best Restaurants in the World for Wine Lovers, and is Zagat-rated. Enjoy pan-Asian food, experience the Chinese culture-rich décor, and explore their great wine and sake selections.

BARBECUE

Walrus Alley (90 Post Road East; 203-333-2733)

This Southern gastropub is a favorite with its hand-selected craft beers, warm family friendly atmosphere, and mouth-watering smoked meats. During the warmer months, there’s great live music on their outdoor dining patio.

CALIFORNIA-MEDITERRANEAN

Capuli (143 Post Road East; 203-557-9340)

Capuli, owned and operated by Chef Armando Brito and his wife, offers the community something a little different: California-Mediterranean cuisine, with freshly prepared meals for lunch and dinner. There are menu options for everyone; it’s a perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal and a glass of wine with family or friends in a cozy atmosphere. Customers call it a “hidden gem.”

Deli

Gold’s Delicatessen (451 Post Road East; 203-227-0101)

Serving Westport for over 60 years, with real sour pickles, hot pastrami and corned beef — the kind you only get in a real Jewish deli. Their homemade matzo ball soup always simmers on the stove. The smell of fresh brisket and turkeys roasting in the oven is always a temptation.

Old Mill Grocery & Deli (222 Hillspoint Road; 203-701-9969)

Old Mill Grocery & Deli is known for the best new pizza in Westport, as well as elevated beach food and coffee – all served in a beautiful market within Westport’s oldest and most treasured restaurant space by the beach. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Catering available for groups of 8+.

Sherwood Diner is a local, family-owned and operated business since 1977. It is a staple for a wide range of guests to enjoy breakfast all day, lunch and dinner, conveniently located on the Post Road, right off I-95 Exit 18.

Lunch Box (190 Weston Road, Weston; 203-227-4808)

Since 1977, Lunch Box is Weston’s enduring “local joint” offering lunch and dinner. Open Tuesday through Saturday, serving many scratch-made preparations and specializing in Latin cuisine. With a full bar and a staff that truly knows regulars’ names, Lunch Box transports diners back to a different time.

 

FUSION

Basso (33 Jesup Road; 203-354-6566)

Basso’s vibrant Mediterranean cuisine has hints of Latin fusion and lots of city flair. The combination of a curated wine list, creative cocktails, gluten-free and vegan dishes, an inventive menu, plus congas and live music, make it a special destination. Happy Hours are Tuesday through Friday at the bar.

The Naan (361 Post Road West; 203-557-6668)

The Naan is a fine dining restaurant and bar, serving Westport and its neighborhood with the authentic flavors of north India since 2018. The Naan takes pride in serving the freshest fixings and flavors.

Italian

Casa Me (7 Sconset Square; 203-571-3230)

Homemade pastas and warm hospitality create a relaxed, refined dining experience, honoring old world traditions. The menu encourages sharing antipasti, pinsa, homemade pasta, farm fresh “verdure,” and grilled fish and meat dishes. The Italian cocktail bar is very popular, as is new terrazza seating.

Finalmente Trattoria (165 Post Road East; 203-226-8500)

Authentic contemporary Italian cuisine. Traditin, freshness and heritage are at the heart of owner Giuseppe Cinque’s tradition. New ownership and menu, at a longtime favorite.

Romanacci Craft Bar & Kitchen (46 Railroad Place; 203-571-3301)

“Romanacci” means “From Rome.” That’s where head chef Graziano Ricci was trained, assuring authenticity in all his food. Meals are fresh and homemade, and include pizzas, Italian treats, tapas and more.

Tutti’s Ristorante (599 Riverside Avenue; 203-221-0262)

This Italian restaurant in the heart of Saugatuck is a true family business. The Funicello family opened Tutti’s in 2002, supplying diners with an atmosphere and ambiance that allows you to feel right at home, enjoying a great home cooked meal.

JAPANESE

Kawa Ni (19A Bridge Square; 203-557-8775)

Located along the Saugatuck River, Kawa Ni is an innovative take on a Japanese izakaya. Unique cocktails accompany ramen, dumplings, nigiri and other favorites. Everything is meant to be shared. Kampai!

Oko (6 Wilton Road; 203-557-8404)

Chef Brian Lewis celebrates Japanese techniques and traditions, using ingredients from local farms and waters, others throughout the US, and the Tsukiji fish market in Japan. The open design flowing from the kitchen through the bar and into the dining room creates an atmosphere where outstanding Japanese food and beverage come together.

 

MEXICAN

Don Memo (90 Main Street; 203-557-6198)

Located in the heart of downtown Westport, Don Memo is a fun creative take on Mexican fare inspired by travels to Oxacana, Puebla and Mexico City. Clean, vibrant food and drink represent the true spirit of Mexico.

Viva Zapata (530 Riverside Avenue; 203-227-8226)

Good food, good margaritas, good times…serving Westport in the heart of Saugatuck since 1969.

PERUVIAN

Lomito (2 Franklin Street; 203-557-6700)

Experience the unique flavors of traditional Peruvian food, prepared fresh with love and high-quality ingredients every day. From their lomo saltado (beef stir fry), pollo a la brasa (roasted chicken), ceviche, and arroz chaufa (Peruvian fried rice) to their popular, customizable Peruvian bowls, they offer delicious and authentic dishes. Catering, takeout and delivery available.

Oyster Bar & Restaurant

La Plage (Longshore Club Park, 260 Compo Road South; 203-684-6232)

La Plage is a waterfront casual restaurant and oyster bar, showcasing a coastal cuisine focused on locally harvested seafood and shellfish, garden fresh produce and sustainable meats, served in a relaxed atmosphere with views of the Saugatuck River and Long Island Sound.

Rizzuto’s (540 Riverside Avenue; 203-221-1002)

Rizzuto’s focuses on seasonal ingredients and preparations featuring market fresh fish, famous lobster rolls, a raw bar, steaks and chops, pasta, and Neapolitan wood-fired pizza. The restaurant boasts a large bar and lounge and an inviting main dining room, featuring an open display kitchen and a grand stone fireplace. A large patio overlooks the Saugatuck neighborhood and tranquil river. 

SEAFOOD

The Whelk (575 Riverside Avenue; 203-557-0902)

A seafood and oyster bar on the Saugatuck River, serving inventively prepared sustainable seafood and local produce accompanied by amazing cocktails. The Whelk offers outdoor dining seasonally, and the enormously popular Oyster Happy Hour Tuesday through Friday.
