A surprising number of “06880” readers realized that last week’s photo challenge showed an eye. But only Patricia Blaufuss knew who it belonged to: the cow in front of Sunny Daes ice cream shop, on Riverside Avenue. (Click here for the photo and comments.)
Let’s see who has an observant eye for this week’s challenge. As always, Lynn U. Miller has photographed something that many of us drive by — but perhaps do not always “see.”

Another item on sale at Brandy Melville?
A stain left by a paint can on concrete.
Two rusty nails in a fence, or a marked Longshore tree??
How about Department of Defense?
Tunnel?
Nix tunnel, since one doesn’t drive “by” a tunnel, or a tollbooth…
Something by the “sea”?
Starts with “C”?
Final guess: a Tim Horton’s drive through.
Is this on the Black Duck restaurant?
Fabric.
Nancy, you were correct about a tunnel. We “drive by” the artwork, not the tunnel itself. But which tunnel?
Stick shift .
Surges Hwy
Nancy — you are a winner, from 3,000 miles away. It’s the Sturges Highway/Cross Highway Merritt Parkway underpass, in the northeastern section of Westport not far from the Patterson Club (in Fairfield). Very impressive!
Does this mean a “get out of jail” card?
Cheers!
Oops. Sturges (the only tunnel I remember!)
How in the world did I miss it? I live nearby and must have driven through it “millions” of times in the past twenty years. I don’t remember ever seeing it. I guess I was too busy looking at the road.
I checked it out last evening. No wonder I missed it! It’s only about 6-7 inches in diameter and painted with a very light brown paint on a tan wall. The photo above is a negative view in different colors. I’m sure I won’t miss it again.
Ok Dan, we know where it it but can you tell us WHAT it is?
Graffiti on the wall of the tunnel.
I drive through that tunnel several times each day and have never noticed it. Tonight on my way home I will look more closely.
