Oh My 06880! — Today’s Photo Challenge

Week 1 of our new Sunday feature — where in Westport is this scene? — was easy. Nearly every “06880” reader, it seemed, knew the gargoyle came from the front entrance of the old Y. (It probably helped that I ran a story on the gargoyles a few weeks earlier.)

Now it gets tough.

If you think you can identify Lynn U. Miller’s photo (below), click “Comments.” Add any thoughts about the subject you wish.

How well do you know Westport?

Carl, I think you are right — mostly cuz of Dan’s “clues” — but, boy, that would mean he is very “fair-skinned” since his restoration (or it’s a lighting “trick”) !

    Morris Jessup at the WPL?

    • Bingo (though it’s spelled “Jesup”). He donated funds to build the original library on the corner of the Post Road and Main Street. His bust — part of which Lynn U. Miller captured in the photo — sits in the “Great Hall” of the current library, between the circulation desk and the copy machines.

  16. Jesup Green bust connected the downstairs to the upstairs!

  17. Mary Ellen Rose got it (above). Morris Jesup donated funds to build the original library on the corner of the Post Road and Main Street. His bust — part of which Lynn U.
