Every year, Westport’s 4th of July bash gets bigger.
And better.
A little rain did not dampen the spirits of last night’s crowd.
There was room enough on the beach for everyone — barely. Soundview was packed. Parties rocked nearly every house in the neighborhood. Bands played, food was eaten, drinks were drunk.
Oh, yeah. There were fireworks too. It was a fantastic celebration, Westport-style.
Is this a great town, or what?
Westport’s nail salons had a busy afternoon.
Westport Parks & Rec director Stuart McCarthy helps direct traffic into the beach. His department, police, fire, EMTs — all have the drill down pat.

Every kid wants to climb the lifeguard stand. The flags are an added attraction.
Everyone has a favorite spot to watch the fireworks. This is the crowd at the Schlaet’s Point jetty, where Soundview intersects with Hillspoint Road.
