Every 10 years or so, it’s good to inspect the bells. The other day, Saugatuck Congregational Church pastor Rev. Alison Patton and trustee David Cross clambered up the tower. They found: All’s well. Sounds great!

Thank you Dan, for writing about the bells of the Saugetuck Congregational Church and enclosing those beautiful photos.
I’ve never seen photos of the bells. Thank you Rev. Patton. They are wonderful.
Assistant Pastor Ted Hoskins took our confirmation class (circa ’63 up there). All I remember is the bell didn’t work and confirmation of my exasperating fear of heights.
In 1973, Rev. Ted Hoskins sent Brian Gillespie (the Gillespie Center was named after his family) and me up the old steeple to chase out the pigeons who apparently had nested there for decades and clean it up. I’ll spare you the details. Let’s just say it looks much nicer now.
