Pic Of The Day #2136

Oh Gloria. What a special picture.
Gloria has seen better days!
That “Private Property” sign is much too subtle.
I don’t understand why this boat has that huge eyesore sign. Since Alan died it’s basically abandoned. I also think it’s washed up on town property. It’s now a salvage job if anything.
Really….that’s stupid. Gloria should be put out of her misery. Spend the $$ on doing that
Not a sign
I have never understood the reverence for this vessel. And I’m a boat person. It must be a regard for the long time owner Alan.
We moved to Westport about 7 years ago. We never understood why this “boat” was there. It must have some sentimental meaning. But now that it is in obvious disrepair, perhaps it’s time to give it a proper goodbye. A benefit of some sorts to honor the owner, and restore the beauty of the pond. Just an idea. Could be fun!
Hi Jennifer,
The oyster boat, “Gloria,” was owned by longtime oysterman and Staples High graduate Alan Sterling. Here are many stories about it, over the years: https://06880danwoog.com/?s=%22alan+sterling%22
Hmmmmh. So much to unpack.
Dare I be the first to state the obvious at this point? Is it time to send in the Town’s Blight Prevention Board?

A “Blight Prevention Board”? In Westport? With five members?
That’s a lot of blight, more than the definitions of “blight”.
