With so many snowmen decorating Westport for the holidays — though no snow (yet) — readers could be forgiven for not instantly recognizing last week’s Photo Challenge.
This one — brown, not white — sits inside Trader Joe’s. (“Near the potato chips,” as the delightfully named Susan Yules points out.)
Diane Bosch, Joyce Barnhart, Elizabeth Auber and Janice Strizever joined Susan in correctly identifying the site of the snowman. Frosty would be proud. (Click here to see the photo.)

At the intersection of Compo Beach Road and Owenoke Park
I believe Ellen is correct. It’s one of the navigation lights leading boats into Compo marina.
My conjecture, as well, is that it’s the green light of the Long Island Sound sighting line that is established by aligning the red light in the water with this one on the land, which is just to the left (as you’re looking into Owenoke) of the left square pillar at Owenoke’s entrance.
Range light for the channel at Compo Marina. And yes right near Owenoke and Compo Beach Rd.
You guys are GOOD! Yes, as Ellen, Pat, Jonathan and Dave say, it’s the light by Owenoke — a “range light for the channel at Compo Marina,” as Dave explains. Well done!

Green Range light for the Compo Basin Marina channel, now known as the Ned Dimes marina. These range lights are lit 365/366 nights a year and are mandated for safe navigation into and out of Compo Basin.

Train Station, if it is blue- It looks blue to me?? If it’s Green navigation light at Compo.
