Entitled Parking: It’s Baaaaack!

It’s been a while since “06880” has run an Entitled Parking photo.

In the early days of the pandemic, no one drove anywhere.

As traffic returned, there was a nice we’re-all-in-this-together kind of civility.

Most recently, Tropical Storm Isaias elicited even more neighbor-helping-neighborliness.

Today’s scene outside Dunkin’ at Bridge Square looks just like the old days, though.

  1. It’s nice to see a return to normal.
Opinion piece in The New York Times about The (ex-)Royal Family and asinine parking in Westport.

  2. entitlement is looking at the crowds on Compo Beach, I would guess that only one out of 25 are wearing a mask, even closely seated, the others are ALL unmasked. they doesn’t Selectman Marpe say anything about that?

How stereotypical of Westport is that photo?

If people don’t know how to behave, we have an obligate to educate them. If I had seen that I would have waited until they exited and asked a simple question, “Can you please explain to me why you think that it’s appropriate to park perpendicular to the lines and selfishly take up 3 spaces?” I’m sure the answer would have been interesting….

    • I had the same situation in Front of Fresh Market. NY plates, Mercedes, running engine. I politely asked if he wouldn’t mind moving over so I could park in one of his two spaces. He told me to move along and mind my own F***ing business. I found another space further away. 25 minutes later, I exit the store, he’s still taking up two front spaces and running his engines. I shake my head and he repeated the same words as the first time. So much for civility.

Dan, you must have missed the memo; all Range Rovers come with a lifetime “park anywhere” pass.

    Range Rover privilege.

  7. Too bad the photo didn’t include the rude person getting back to their car

What if he/she is a SHS grad? is there special dispensation? Look the other way attitude?

      • John McCarthy

Yes, as a matter of we actually got a special card attached to our diploma that allows us to get out of these types of situations. Pretty cool!

How stereotypical of Westport….ahhh John, another Westporter/SHS grad who never disappoints consistently expressing their sense of self entitlement to the little people. Take a bow John.

          • James, once again lying in wait, salivating at the opportunity to hurl invectives at anyone Westport. Its stale James, you need new tricks. Or perhaps move along to another town’s blog.

          • John McCarthy

            Thanks for playing.

    Let me sum up:
“I was only going to be five minutes”
“Where else was I supposed to park?”
    and my personal favorite:
“I left my wife in the car!”

    • Oh…left the baby in the car as well…no problem …honest officer….the new Range Rover has a built in a virtual nanny feature!

  13. CT plates?
