This hive reminded photographer Werner Liepolt of the saying: “Swarm in May, worth a load of hay”

WHO TO CALL IF I SEE A BEE HIVE? I’M HIGHLY ALLERGIC AND CARRY AN EPI-PEN. I WOULDN’T WANT A HIVE NEAR MY HOME. PLEASE ADVISE.
    THANK YOU.

Just makes you feel a lot better about the world today.

Here’s the full version of the old New England saying that Werner captioned:

A swarm in May is worth a load of hay.
A swarm in June is worth a silver spoon.
A swarm in July ain’t worth a fly.

That last line is essentially saying that capturing a swarm of honey bees, bringing it home, installing it in a hive box and trying to get it to make enough honey to make it through the winter (about 60 lbs) is pretty much a fool’s errand.
