Pic Of The Day #1059

An hour or so after the Westport Public Schools announced they’re closing, Trader Joe’s looked like the day before a snowstorm. Or “The Day After.” (Photo/Armelle Pouriche)

Meanwhile, hand sanitizer is in such short supply, the Westport Library took special precautions — plenty of tape — to make sure this supply stayed in the Hub.

Gee Dan! Not good! People should not hoard. I heard a story about a church in Weston that had a large container in the ministers office not was for the congregation. Someone went into his office and took it. People are unbelievable!

I was there yesterday in the insanity. I went in for bananas and was shocked by the crowd. The shopper before me did buy the peppers! Of course, I should have just left but didn’t think of that until later. I didn’t think anything of being in the crowded store until I read about the outbreak in Westport. How do we know if we’ve been around any of those people? I would hope they are responsible enough to notify anyone they can think of that they were around. Shouldn’t the schools that had these students notify their teachers and student families? I understand not shaming people but isn’t this an exception? Do we want to be the next New Rochelle?

  4. Great points, Bobbi. I believe there are some pretty strong (and well-intended) HIPAA privacy rules that prohibit disclosing private health information — even if someone is at risk. That’s why the schools cannot release that information. I may be wrong, but I’ve heard that from a number of sources.
