Persona Of The Week: WTF’s Liz Milwe And Christy Colasurdo

If you can’t — or won’t — trek to New York for tonight’s Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center: no problem!

Wakeman Town Farm’s annual tree lighting is this Friday (December 6, 4:30 to 6 p.m.).

That’s just one of the many events taking place regularly at community farm/sustainability center/gathering spot.

This week, Persona’s Rob Simmelkjaer interviews Liz Milwe and Christy Colasurdo. They chat about all the great things happening all year long at WTF.

(Friday’s tree lighting at Wakeman Town Farm is free, and open to all. There’s music, marshmallows, cocoa, cookies — and a collection box for unwrapped toys, courtesy of Al’s Angels.)

Liz Milwe and Peter Wormser are town treasures. I am grateful for the wonderful legacy that they have bestowed on Westport through all their efforts to make Wakeman Town Farm what it is today. Great interview Rob –keep up the good work!!

  2. Liz and Christy totally rock and have been huge players in “the little farm that could”! They are in it heart and soul. We would not be what we are today without them and without Peter Wormser!

One event correction to note. The Monday evening lecture about kids teaching us about composting and sustainability is actually on January 13th. (Not January 7th!) Hope you’ll come!

And hope to see everyone at our fun Holiday Tree Lighting this Friday for music and merriment down on the farm!

Liz Milwe works tirelessly for our town and our environment. She started the plastic bag ban putting Westport on the map as the leader of that program. She and her husband Peter brought a new chapter to life at WTF with the addition of Tim’s Kitchen in memory of their incredible son. There are lots of amazing volunteers that diligently work with Christy to keep the farm running. If you haven’t seen the transformation of the farm through Liz’s unwavering efforts you are missing out on Westport’s hidden gem that bring endless joy and learning to our people of all ages community.
    Thank you, Liz
