When did he sell LSS?
Just curious.
I used to produce (print) his “paper” tide charts, some “moons ago”, while managing at Quick Copy (under Toquet Hall) and Quality Print (Richmondville Ave. in The Mill building).

I had a great time at Longshore boating/sailing school back in the late 1960’s. Three summers worth of on-hands learning. I learned how to row & sail. Sail boats back then were Sprites (small mono hull with a jib & a centerboard) & Aqua Cats (Hobie Cat wanna-be & dis-affectionately known as “the jungle gym of the sea”). The instructors informed us that if we could master an Aqua Cat, we could sail ANYTHING.
They were right.
I owned an AquaCat for years. LSS taught me how to sail them backwards (a necessary skill), and how not to fear capsizing (through repetition). The mud flats are probably littered with broken dagger boards.
They still seem to have a great relationship with the small boat vendors, as they continually get the latest and greatest models. How long before they get a foiling boat?
I think LSS is the absolute hidden gem in Westport. The beaches are nice and the schools are great, but spending time at the sailing school and on the boats makes it feel as though we live at a resort.
Not only has LSS taught generations of Fairfield County kids (and adults) how to sail, it is a great place to work in the summer.
