Reda Gul — a Staples Class of 2016 graduate and former “Student of the Month” — died in a road accident in Pakistan on Tuesday.

According to The News — a Pakistani website — Reda was a U.S. citizen. Friends in Westport say that after Staples, she returned to her native country to study medicine, in Peshawar. As a freshman, she played on the Staples basketball team.
The News reported that the driver — a friend of Reda’s — lost control of the vehicle, which overturned on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway. She was killed instantly; the driver was injured.
A funeral was held in Pakistan. Condolence cards to the Gul family may be sent to 60 Hales Court, Westport, CT 06880.
Reda was an incredible young woman. She had a warm personality and a shining spirit. I, and others who taught her, were crestfallen to hear about her passing. The world needs more people like her. My thoughts go out to her friends and family and anyone else whose day is less bright without her in it.
I have never commented on a post before, but this news about Reda is breaking my heart. Reda was a classmate of my daughter’s since elementary school at GFS and I will always remember her warm smile and enthusiasm, her eagerness to engage, her intelligence and thoughtfulness. She had a bounce in her step and attitude, and always inquired about other’s welfare. The world will miss such a positive, beautiful energy. My thoughts are with her and her family.
Redah was a very kind, gentle, intelligent young lady, a friend of my dsughter’s, and given the constraints on women in her society, I was delighted when her father told me she would go to medical school. What a major achievement!! I am heart broken to think what her humble, honest family, eking out a living in a hostile environment, is going through. God bless them and help them, they are a wonderful family.
Absolutely heartbreaking — the loss of their child — and as a mother, my heart goes out to her parents… I can only imagine their tremendous grief. I remember Reda at GFS when her younger brother was in my son’s class. Our deepest condolences to the entire Gul family.
We are so devastated to hear of this tragedy. Reda was the beloved babysitter of our children and a light in our lives. Our thoughts and prayers go to her entire family.
I was a secretary serving the front desk at GFS where Reda went to school. News of this beautiful young woman’s passing is devastating. She was kind to all, enthusiastic, and a wonderful example of how kindness counts. To me, Reda stood out in a crowd, last time I saw her she’d come back from high school to volunteer her help at our school when the district was closed for a professional day. That was Reda, always lending a helping hand.

Reda was such a gorgeous young woman, filled with so much joy and laughter. She was always happy and always interested in so many things. Her future was bright and boundless. The Gul family is a wonderful family that did not deserve for this to befall them. May God bless them and give them strength. Reda, we will miss you.
