Oh My 06880 — Photo Challenge #24

I was pretty sure no one would get last week’s photo challenge. It was, I thought, one of those sights we see often, but never really register.

Silly me. Jane McCaffrey, Kim Lake and Beatrice Crane-Baker quickly identified the “Friends” photo as part of the Robert Lambdin mural hanging now in the Westport Library.

Housed for its first 57 years in Saugatuck Elementary School — now senior housing on Bridge Street — it was removed, restored and rehung in the library in 1992.

Its current home is fitting. The section of the mural that Lynn U. Miller photographed reads: “Wings on which to soar to heaven/Friends with whom to work on earth” — referring, of course, to books. (To see that photo, click here.)

Once again, I think this photo challenge is a tough one. Once again, you’ll probably prove me wrong.
