Important Info For People Who Subscribe To “06880” By Email Or Reader

I’ve heard from several readers who subscribe by email that the “comment” button no longer appears when the blog is delivered by email.  (You can still comment, of course, by going to www.danwoog06880.com).

I’ve fixed the problem by changing the service that handles subscriptions.  Unfortunately, the new service cannot import current subscribers.

You have 2 options:

  • Click on the new “Subscribe to ‘06880’ by email — It’s free!” button on the right side at www.danwoog06880.com.  You’ll once again have the ability to comment — and read comments — directly.   (Bonus:   You get a “cleaner” version of each post, with photos and captions where they should be.)  Be sure to “unsubscribe” from your previous subscription, so you won’t get 2 emails for each post.
  • Do nothing.  Downside:  You have to go to the blog itself to comment, or read comments.

Also, I’ve heard that users who subscribe via a reader (if you don’t know what that is, you can stop reading now) are having delivery issues too.  If that’s true, please shoot me a private email (dwoog@optonline.net) and let me know what’s happening.

THANKS for enjoying “06880” — and being part of our great community conversation. — Dan Woog

Excitement is high every morning, when "06880" arrives via the intertubes on subscribers' computers.

  1. You can also Google “06880 blog” and go right to it. No one can trace your email account this way as well. I am getting “snow” on my screen recently, however??

  2. The snow is for the month of December. Happy holidays!

  3. Finally, a picture of “The Dude!”

I told you once, Brad Pitt look-a-like! This guy is old enough to be . . . my brother. Happy Holidays? The “snow” is freaking my mind Wooger.

    • You beat me to it!

…and I always thought “The Dude” had a ponytail.

        Merry Christmas John!

        • Thank you, and Merry Christmas or Happy Festivus (whatever the case may be) to you too 😉

So you mean to tell me you don’t have a ponytail?
And all this time when I’ve been roundabout town and saw someone with one, I figured I was just graced by the presence of “The Dude”.

Happy Festivus to you. Got the pole up??? The Robin Williams look but no pony tail. Jeffxs dormant and you disappeared. Figured we would definitely hear from you after the elections you predicted. Dancing with Bristol since??

  4. Hi Dan,

    I am using;

    http://feeds.feedburner.com/06880

in My Yahoo, and until a few mins ago, the most recent post was two months old, but it seems to have update while I was looking at it. Perhaps this is an old feed URL, because the feed on the front page now points to “feeds2”.

    • THANKS, Tony. Any suggestions on what I should do about this?!

      • Tony Masiello

        Hi Dan,

I did a little more research on this. It seems the ‘feeds vs feeds2’ issue goes back to Feb 2009 when Google took over the Feedburner service. From what I understand, ‘feeds2’ is a *permanent* post Google transition URL and ‘feeds’ should redirect to it. So it seems you are doing the right thing, advertising the ‘feeds2’ URL.

I suspect that those having problems are pointing to ‘feeds’ and that Google is doing something wrong. Perhaps suggest to anyone having issues with their reader, to delete their current entry for 06880 and add it again from the feed link on the page.

        Hope that is some help!
