Davis Coen Is #1

Davis CoenDavis Coen is some place Buckwheat Zydeco, Booker T. Jones, Johnny Winter, Hot Tuna and Stevie Ray Vaughan are not.

The Westport native and Staples grad sits atop the Roots Music Report’s blues chart — a very influential radio programmers’ poll.  Those other famous artists are eating Davis’s dust.

His “Magnolia Land” CD is also moving up the chart on XM BB King’s Bluesville satellite radio station, thanks to his many fans.  (Click here to request the current favorites: “Change in the Weather,” “Country  Girl Blues,” “Eyes Like Diamonds” and “You Gonna Miss Me” — scroll to the bottom of the list.)

Davis was here last week, for his parents’ legendary 4th of July party.  Sounds like his fireworks are still going off.

Davis is the real deal. He grew surrounded by music and the music business. As a student at Staples High School, he oozed the blues and wanted nothing more than to find time to play his guitar.

He may be one of the lucky ones… lucky enough to have a life-long dream and lucky enough to be able to accomplish it.

    Keep it up, Davis!
