The crowd was enormous.
The vibe was adoring.
The event was special.
Thousands of Westporters jammed Main Street and Jesup Green late today. They honored the Westport Little League all-stars — home at last after their storybook run to the World Series championship game — as well as the state champion girls softball team.
It was, everyone said, the best town event they’d ever seen.
And talented photographer Kim Lake was there to snap all the action.
thank you!
As a Westport Softball family, I’d like to think it was NOT all about the boys! We were at the event to support all the kids, boys and girls alike. It was a great event!
Yep! It was the best town happening ever!
Congratulations to a wonderful gathering of athletes. What works for youth will work for our town…so it seems we are in good hands.
Such a pleasure to be honoring real sportsmanship, grit and heart for a change… no issues, no controversies in sight. I’d rather watch the Little League championship series again and again as opposed to professional baseball. Never before in my 60+ years in Westport did I walk with thousands of townspeople down Main Street and across the Post Road to a happy honorary celebration. Excellent!!
I couldn’t be there, but I’m proud of them nonetheless.
For once, Westport was undivided.
Congrats to the all kids on their super year. Westport is/was a terrific town for kids.
